Medical Detoxification
Medical detoxification is the critical first step in addiction recovery. Detox is the process by which your body safely eliminates drugs or alcohol under the supervision of our on-site medical team. At MNR Helpline, detox is never something you go through alone. Our physicians, nurses, and clinical staff monitor you around the clock to manage withdrawal symptoms, ensure your safety, and provide comfort throughout the process.
Withdrawal from certain substances, particularly alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opioids, can be dangerous or even life-threatening without proper medical oversight. That is why our treatment center in St Paul provides medically supervised detox with 24/7 clinical monitoring and evidence-based medication protocols to reduce discomfort and prevent complications.
Our compassionate approach to detox means that we treat each patient with dignity and respect, recognizing that seeking help takes immense courage. From the moment you arrive at our facility, our team is dedicated to making the experience as comfortable and safe as possible.
Our Detox Process
Every detox experience at our St Paul facility follows a carefully structured, medically guided process designed to keep you safe and prepare you for the next stage of your recovery.
Comprehensive Assessment
Upon arrival at our facility, our medical team conducts a thorough physical and psychological evaluation. This includes reviewing your substance use history, medical background, mental health status, and any medications you are currently taking. This assessment allows us to create a personalized detox plan tailored to your specific needs.
Medical Stabilization
During the active detox phase, our clinical team provides round-the-clock monitoring and medication management. We use evidence-based protocols, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when appropriate, to manage withdrawal symptoms, reduce cravings, and prevent medical complications. Vital signs are checked regularly, and our nurses are always available to address any concerns.
Comfort & Support
We understand that detox can be physically and emotionally challenging. Our facility provides comfortable private rooms, nutritious meals, and a calming environment to support your wellbeing. Our counselors begin building a therapeutic relationship with you during detox, offering emotional support and preparing you mentally for the next phase of treatment.
Transition Planning
As your body stabilizes and withdrawal symptoms subside, our clinical team works with you to determine the most appropriate next level of care. Most patients transition directly into our residential treatment program for continued support. This seamless transition occurs within the same facility, eliminating the disruption of traveling to a new location.
Substances Treated at Our Facility
Our medical detox program at MNR Helpline is equipped to safely manage withdrawal from a wide range of substances. Each substance requires a different clinical approach, and our experienced medical team is trained to address the unique challenges associated with every type of addiction.
24/7 Medical Supervision & Medication-Assisted Treatment
Around-the-Clock Monitoring
Our on-site nursing staff monitors patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the detox process. Vital signs, hydration levels, and overall wellbeing are assessed at regular intervals. A physician is always available at our St Paul facility to respond to any medical needs that may arise.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
When clinically appropriate, our medical team uses FDA-approved medications such as buprenorphine, naltrexone, and other evidence-based pharmaceuticals to reduce withdrawal severity, manage cravings, and support long-term recovery. MAT is administered and closely monitored by our board-certified physicians at our treatment center.
Residential Treatment
Residential treatment at MNR Helpline provides an immersive, structured recovery experience within the comfort and safety of our St Paul campus. During residential care, patients live full-time at our facility and participate in a comprehensive daily schedule of therapeutic activities, counseling sessions, and holistic programming designed to address the root causes of addiction.
Our residential program is ideal for individuals who have completed detox and need continued intensive support, those with a long history of substance use, patients who have not been successful with outpatient treatment alone, or anyone who needs to be removed from an environment that contributes to their addiction. Living on-site allows patients to focus entirely on their recovery without the distractions and triggers of daily life.
We offer 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day residential programs. Research consistently shows that longer treatment stays produce better outcomes. Our clinical team will work with you to determine the ideal program length based on your individual circumstances, substance use history, and recovery goals.

Residential Program Length Options
30-Day Program
Our 30-day residential program is ideal for individuals with a shorter substance use history or those who have strong support systems at home. This program covers the core therapeutic foundations, including individual counseling, group therapy, relapse prevention education, and aftercare planning.
60-Day Program
The 60-day program provides additional time for deeper therapeutic work. Patients explore trauma, family dynamics, and emotional triggers in greater depth. This extended stay allows for the development of stronger coping mechanisms and a more solid foundation for long-term sobriety.
90-Day Program
Research shows that 90 days of treatment significantly improves long-term outcomes. Our 90-day program offers the most comprehensive residential experience, including advanced relapse prevention strategies, vocational support, life skills training, and a gradual step-down to outpatient care.
Outpatient Treatment Programs
Outpatient programs at MNR Helpline provide structured, evidence-based treatment at our St Paul facility while allowing patients to return home or to a sober living environment between sessions. Outpatient care is ideal for individuals who have completed residential treatment and are stepping down to a less intensive level of care, or for those whose addiction severity and life circumstances allow them to receive effective treatment without requiring full-time residential placement.
Our Outpatient Levels of Care
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the most intensive outpatient offering at MNR Helpline. - Daily group therapy and psychoeducation workshops
- Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
- Relapse prevention skills training
- Family therapy sessions
- Access to on-site holistic therapies
Typical Duration: 2 to 4 weeks, depending on individual progress and clinical recommendation.
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at MNR Helpline is designed for patients who are progressing in their recovery and need continued structured support. Patients attend treatment 3 to 5 days per week for approximately 3 hours per session, typically in the morning or evening to accommodate work and family schedules.

- Individual counseling sessions weekly
- Group therapy 3 to 5 times per week

Seamless Step-Down Care
At MNR Helpline, we believe that the transition between levels of care is one of the most critical moments in recovery. Our clinical team carefully monitors each patient's progress and recommends step-down transitions only when the patient is clinically ready. Because all of our programs are delivered at our St Paul facility, patients maintain relationships with their therapists, counselors, and peer groups as they move through each level of care. This continuity reduces the risk of relapse and builds a stronger foundation for lasting sobriety.
Whether you are stepping down from residential to PHP, from PHP to IOP, or from IOP to standard outpatient, your treatment team remains involved and invested in your success every step of the way.
Dual Diagnosis Treatment
Dual diagnosis, also known as co-occurring disorders, refers to the presence of both a substance use disorder and a mental health condition occurring simultaneously. At MNR Helpline, we understand that addiction and mental health are deeply interconnected. Treating one without addressing the other significantly increases the risk of relapse. That is why our treatment center in St Paul provides fully integrated dual diagnosis care, addressing both conditions simultaneously under one roof.
Why Integrated Treatment Matters
Many people who struggle with addiction also live with an underlying mental health condition. In many cases, substance use begins as an attempt to self-medicate symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health challenges. When only the addiction is treated without addressing the co-occurring mental health disorder, the emotional pain and psychological symptoms that fueled the addiction remain unresolved, making relapse far more likely.
At our clinical center, our psychiatrists, therapists, and counselors work together to provide a unified treatment plan that addresses the full picture of each patient's health. This integrated approach means that therapy sessions, medication management, and clinical assessments are all coordinated to treat both the addiction and the mental health condition at the same time.
Mental Health Conditions We Treat
Our dual diagnosis program at MNR Helpline is equipped to treat a wide range of co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorders.
Depression
Major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, and treatment-resistant depression
Anxiety
Generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias
PTSD
Post-traumatic stress disorder from trauma, abuse, combat, or other adverse experiences
Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar I, Bipolar II, and cyclothymic disorder with co-occurring substance use
Our Integrated Approach
Psychiatric Evaluation & Care
Upon admission, every patient at our facility receives a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation conducted by a board-certified psychiatrist. This assessment identifies any co-occurring mental health conditions that may be driving or exacerbating the addiction. Our psychiatric team remains involved throughout the entire course of treatment, adjusting care plans as needed.
Evidence-Based Therapy
Our licensed therapists use proven modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, and Motivational Interviewing. These therapies address both substance use patterns and underlying mental health symptoms simultaneously.
Medication Management
Our psychiatrists carefully prescribe and monitor medications that treat mental health conditions without interfering with addiction recovery. Whether a patient needs antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anti-anxiety medications, or other psychiatric pharmaceuticals, our team ensures that all medications work together safely and effectively as part of a unified treatment plan.
Coordinated Clinical Team
Unlike facilities that treat addiction and mental health separately, our St Paul treatment center takes a fully integrated approach. Psychiatrists, therapists, addiction counselors, and nursing staff collaborate daily to share insights, adjust treatment plans, and ensure that every aspect of a patient's care is aligned toward the same recovery goals.
